The Best Places To Eat

Name something better than coming home from university after a long day of lectures and heading out for a meal with your pals? Some people will probably just want to stay in, but when you realise just how much there is to discover in Kingston, you’ll be dying to get out! We’ve listed some of our fave places for you to try, so make sure you get your book out and note them down.

Poor Boys

As much as it doesn’t sound like the most appealing place, Poor Boys is renowned for being Kingston’s top eatery. Feeling starving? Then don’t worry, this delicious restaurant will sort you out straight away and probably leave you feeling sooo bloated. Inspired by the city of New Orleans, two brothers have been able to create an authentic ambience that Kingston’s eateries have never seen before. They aim to provide a great Southern Louisiana hospitality in a vibrant and friendly atmosphere…so, who’s booking a table then?

Phoreal

If you’re searching for Vietnamese street food in Kingston, Phoreal is the place to go. It might only be a small hut serving dishes out of takeaway tubs, but honestly, the food is on another level! From ginger-marinated grilled chicken to tasty beef noodle soup, they have a variety of options to suit you and all your friends.

Cappadocia

Who doesn’t love Turkish cuisine? Especially when it’s made by expert chefs in a cosy restaurant. If this sounds up your street, then make sure, whilst you’re here for university, you take a trip to Cappadocia. Aside from having a menu you’re going to want to fully devour, they also offer a wide variety of drinks to quench your thirst. Treat yourself to a scrumptious cocktail alongside your dinner – you’re going to love it! 

Nights Out

Whilst you’re staying in your luxury student accommodation in Kingston upon Thames, you’re bound to want to get out and experience the eclectic nightlife it has to offer. From cosy pubs to vibrant clubs, you’re spoilt for choice whilst living here for university!

Pryzm

Now, Pryzm is a club we’ve all missed since lockdown happened, and we’re sooo excited it’s finally back open. Being one of the biggest nights out in Kingston upon Thames, you’re bound to find yourself here most weekends, shooting Tequila and drinking shorts. For students, this club is extra special as it hosts a variety of student nights with amazing deals to save your budget. Our personal fave has to be quids in, which happens every Monday evening and provides drinks for as cheap as £1 – how good is that?

Bacchus Late Bar

Kingston’s favourite dungeon/cellar bar and nightclub, this venue is a must-visit if you’re heading to this popular uni destination. It has a huge variety of events which take place every single week, so you deffo won’t run out of things to do whilst staying here. Is your favourite genre of music RNB? Well, you might fancy their ‘Buss It’ event! Or, if you’re more into punk music, make sure to grab yourself a ticket for Collision – you won’t regret it!

The Fighting Cocks

We know what you’re thinking, and no…it isn’t, and that’s the furthest we’ll expand on the topic. This is actually a hip bar and club, which is no stranger to a crazy party. Offering a huge selection of draft and bottled beers, lavish cocktails and real ales, there’s something for everyone here, and it’s not one to miss.

O’Neill’s

Lastly, O’Neills has to have a spot on Kingston’s nightlife list, ‘cos it’s just the place to be…right? It’s legendary all around the UK, and students love it for its inviting atmosphere and live music nights. They say the banter here flows as freely as the drinks…we want to go now!

Where To Shop

Having a little bit of retail therapy whilst at uni is one of the best ways to relax and unwind. You’re working so hard, you deserve a little bit of time off to breathe! Whilst staying in Kingston for university, shops are literally littered everywhere for you to walk to in no time. For some of the bigger shopping centres – check them out below!

The Bentall Centre

This is one of Kingston’s busiest shopping venues and is home to 75 different stores. It’s the perfect place for a pit stop shop, a day trip out and a quick meal with your pals. What makes it even better is that it’s just a short walk away from our Kingston student accommodation, so in every weather condition, you can make it here safe and sound. 

Eden Walk

Another big town centre outlet, full of recognisable retailers, Eden Walk is home to brands such as Boots, Cafe Nero and Clintons. It’s extremely easy to find, and you’ll be able to get all essentials from this retail venue. It’s open every day for your benefit, so if you ever need any last-minute bits, this is the place to get them!

London

Of course, we couldn’t talk about shopping and not talk about Kingston’s sister city – London! One of the most popular shopping districts in the world, it comes as no surprise that most students will head here for a shopping experience unlike any other. Expect every style of shop, from high street to luxury designer brands!
