If you’re lucky you may even sight one of the majestic peacocks who have made Kyoto garden their home.

This park truly is a piece of Japan right in the centre of London. It’s open to anyone and free to enter from 7:30am every morning until 30-minutes before dusk.

Hyde Park

If you’re staying in Paddington Citi View, consider Hyde Park as your front garden. It’s a slice of heaven right in the centre of London, where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the streets and take some time out to connect with nature.

Take the Bakerloo line from Paddington to Baker Street and arrive right outside Regents Park approx. 17-minutes later. Nestled within the grounds is London Zoo, a huge attraction for the city and one of the oldest in the world open since 1828.

Feel closer to nature by visiting the hundreds of different species from Reptiles to Red Monkeys and learn about the zoos efforts towards the conservation of these fascinating creatures and their different habitats.

Paddington Statue

The Paddington Bear statue which was created by Marcus Cornish is an iconic symbol of the area of Paddington. The beautiful bronze figure was originally erected in 2000 and situated in Paddington station, the place he was named after.

Until more recently when the Elizabeth line was created and he was moved. Initially Paddington was relocated to another part of the station but later then moved again to a better spot after residents and visitors complained that he had been shoved into a dark corner of the station and out of view! He now resides right in the middle of the station once again – where he belongs!

The second Paddington statue is found in Leicester Square, sat on a bench eating a marmalade sandwich.
Not only is Paddington famed for his association with children’s books and stories, but he now has a place in our hearts from his recent rise to fame via the Queen.

During the jubilee he became a royal mascot and once again won over the hearts of the public and fans of the royals from around the world. During the Jubilee a touching CGI animation was created of Queen Elizabeth and the bear sharing a pot of tea and marmalade sandwich was broadcasted and brought the character to life, making us fall in love with him even more!

It was after this that the public began associating Paddington more heavily with his marmalade sandwiches, so much so that once the queen sadly passed away, mourning visitors were leaving them outside the palace as tributes to her and her close relationship with the bear.

Harrods

If you’ve got money to splurge and have a taste for the big luxury brands, then Harrods luxury department store based in Knightsbridge is where you will most likely spend your time. The store has been here since 1849 serving London’s wealthiest of residents. Even if you’re not here to spend, even just taking a walk around this store and soaking in the atmosphere is an experience to have.

Harrods is easily a London landmark within itself, you will be blown away by the true magic of the place which begins with top hat wearing doormen welcoming you in, then stemming all the way to the well-known opulent Harrods food hall.

If you like collectables feel free to pick up a signature Harrods Bear as a keepsake from your visit. From Paddington Citi View, Walk approx. 30-minutes to the other side of Hyde Park to get here or alternatively jump on the Bakerloo line from Paddington and switch lines at Piccadilly circus to the Piccadilly line, jumping off at Knightsbridge.

Liberty of London

Open since 1874, Liberty of London is also a very well-known, smaller more boutiquey department store situated within the walls of a Tudor revival building in Carnaby. Liberty is a heritage site and known for its connection to art and culture which absolutely champions British led designers.

It has an extremely warm and eccentric feeling to it, once you step inside you will be blown away by the unique colours of the tapestries and paintings which hang majestically around the store. Liberty is more than a store, it’d an artistic movement.

The best way to get here is by jumping on the Bakerloo line at Paddington and going directly to Oxford Circus, the journey takes approx. 17-minutes from Paddington Citi View.

If you’re more of a vintage lover then the likes of Portobello Market is where you’ll most likely find yourself searching for the best one-off pre loved pieces. There’s something for every taste and budget here.

You can snap up vintage designer pieces or charity shop affordable garments. Not only is the market a hot spot for fashionistas alike, but it is also famous for its antiques. So no matter what you’re after, as long as you have the eye for items with character and charm which aren’t necessarily going to mean you spending your entire student loan, then Portobello market is going to appeal to you.

Take a 30-minute walk from Paddington Citi View or jump on the Hammersmith & City line at Paddington, jumping off at Ladbroke Grove. This will take you approx. 21 mins!
